Privacy and terms

Privacy
Reference has no ads, and it doesn't sell or share what it knows about you.
- Visits. PostHog shows us how the site is used: the pages you open, what you click, copy, and search for, and recordings of visits with everything you type masked. It keeps a random ID in your browser's storage to tell return visits apart, and sets no cookies. Vercel Web Analytics also counts visits, without cookies. Neither receives your email address. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, PostHog records nothing.
- Agents. When an agent uses our MCP server or search API, we count its calls and searches without keeping its address.
- Hosting. Vercel, which hosts the site, keeps standard server logs.
- Searches. What you type, and any image or clip you search with, goes to our server to be matched against the library, using Google's Gemini and Twelve Labs. We don't store it.
- Your account. Our database (Supabase) keeps your saved videos and your email address. When you log in with Google, GitHub, or X, it also keeps the name and profile picture that service shares.
- Make it here. Your email address, the video you picked, and what you'd change. We use them only to tell you when you can make it here.
- Forms. What you send when you add a video, share a remake, take part in a challenge, or ask for a correction, through the site or its MCP server, including any contact details you give. We use it to review what you sent and to reply.
- Saved videos. Without an account they stay in your browser and never reach us.
You can delete your account, with your list and saved videos, on the Account page. To have anything else removed, use the corrections and removals form.
Terms
- The videos and prompts belong to their creators. Every page credits the creator and links to the original post.
- Prompts are here so you can learn from them and make your own work. Ask the creator before reusing their video itself.
- What an AI agent makes from a prompt varies from run to run, and paid services it calls cost money. You're responsible for what you run and what you publish.
- Don't send other people's private information, or videos that copy a real person's voice or face without their consent.
- Reference is provided as it is, without warranties, and anything on it may change or be removed.
Removals
If you made a video in the library and want it changed or taken down, send the link through the corrections and removals form. We take it down.
